  •  The outer façade of Jaume I University’s new Auditorium in Castellón has been clad in monochrome black Lammax, using a total of 800 1x3m panels to cover the entire 2,500m2 surface. The new Auditorium stands out for its versatile use, since it can either be used for just one activity or partitioned off to hold up to three simultaneous events.
The building consists of a stone podium with a platform, above which two volumes have been added: a windowless box containing the assembly halls, stage and dressing rooms, and a glass prism featuring the stage machinery and other backstage facilities.
The building’s interiors offer a contrast; with the seating area and stage, on the one hand, and interplay with light and links between adjoining areas, on the other. “Thanks to the way light has been used, the spatial richness and interplay with materials, the interiors of the Auditorium make a thought-provoking impact,” said Francisco Grande, the head architect of the project. Also involved in the Auditorium’s construction was a team made up of José Font, Francisco Mestre, and Jaume I University’s Technical Director, José Pitarch.
It was a very gratifying experience for Saloni to have been involved in the construction of the building, seeing its brand image reflected in cultural facilities as significant as the Auditorium of Jaume I University.
The Lammax range is ideal for the project for a number of practical and aesthetic reasons, because it combines resistance to the passing of time with low maintenance, which is extremely important in the case of a building of these characteristics. Architecturally it offers a strong image and distinctive personality, and the panels’ dark colour generates the sensation that the building has been suspended among adjoining areas.
