The Life Series at Helsinki-Vantaaa Airport.

Saloni was commissioned with paving the floor of Finnair Silver Wings Lounge at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, Finland’s leading airport and one of the Nordic countries’ busiest in terms of passenger traffic, with flights from all Europe’s leading destinations, as well as Hong Kong, Japan, Turkey, the USA and Canada. It has annual passenger traffic of over 13 million people.
Through-body porcelain tiles from the Life series were chosen. These tiles are ideal for public spaces, given their outstanding resistance and large 80x80cm format, allowing for the creation of settings with a very clean look. Life also features an elegant design and a meticulous glossy finish. In this case, white tiles were used, although the collection also comes in beige and black.
The design project was headed by Jukka Halminen and Hilka Parkkinem, founder members of the prestigious Helsinki-based architects’ studio KOKO3, well known in the sector for its extensive experience inside and outside Finland.
The end result is an innovative-looking lounge with an elegant contemporary look, enlivened by the combination of black and white. The blend of classic beauty and furniture with an avant-garde touch give the lounge a strong personality.
